The London Broncos, a second-tier rugby league team, have stated that their tax bill has been paid after HMRC issued a winding-up petition on Monday. The petition, filed against the club's parent company, London Rugby League Limited, concerned unpaid tax for August and September.
The club insists it has paid the outstanding amount of approximately £166,000. Co-owner Grant Wechsel told City AM that the club was alerted to the petition by a third party on Monday, attributing the delay to a change of address registered with Companies House on 10 September.
A spokesperson for HMRC commented that winding-up petitions are filed only after all other options have been exhausted, to protect taxpayers' money. The club, purchased by a consortium in September 2025, is currently seeking to join the top-flight Super League.
