London's team finished second last at this year's European TramDriver Championship, held in Warsaw on Saturday. The event saw 26 teams compete in a series of demanding tasks, which were inspired by tram drivers' day-to-day work.
Competitors faced precision challenges such as smooth stop and go, where points were deducted for spilled water from a bowl attached to the tram. Other tasks included speed control at 25 km/h, target braking, tram bowling, and a reverse ride guided by whistle commands.
The 2026 title was awarded to Vendula Tmejová and Zdeněk Rychtář from Prague, Czech Republic. Thousands of fans attended the spectacle live in Warsaw, with approximately 80,000 viewers watching the competition via livestream worldwide.
Melbourne, which has one of the largest tram networks globally, will host the next event in 2027.
