LRG's ambitious office refurbishment programme has come into sharp focus, with a major push towards sustainable workplace practices across its UK-wide network. The company's recent move to a new headquarters, chosen for its eco-friendly credentials, sets the tone for a significant investment in modernising its property estate while slashing its ecological footprint.
The new HQ's extensive refurbishment prioritised retaining existing materials, minimising waste, and boosting energy efficiency – earning a SKA Gold rating for the fit-out. This achievement complements the building's existing BREEAM Excellent certification, showcasing LRG's commitment to sustainable design.
In addition to its headquarters, LRG has completed various projects, including relocating its Sheffield office, moving its Derby lettings team into a standalone facility, and upgrading offices in Manchester and Poole. The Derby Pride Park operation now operates from a dedicated office, potentially enhancing local service delivery.
The company is systematically applying sustainable design principles to all office projects – from major refurbishments to routine maintenance activities. LRG is reusing fixtures and furniture where possible, installing energy-efficient LED lighting, sourcing sustainably sourced materials exclusively, and pursuing broader energy efficiency efforts across its property portfolio.
With further significant investment planned for 2026, the programme will continue throughout the year. Future developments include a new flagship office in Nottingham, a second flagship site in Southampton, and around 20 additional office refurbishments. LRG also intends to introduce sustainable model offices for Chancellors, following its acquisition of the business in 2025.
According to David Wilson, Chief Operating Officer at LRG, these initiatives have a dual benefit: reducing environmental impact is not only about environmentally-friendly buildings but also about operational discipline – implementing better systems, data, and accountability enables smarter day-to-day decisions that lead to lower energy use, reduced costs, and support the company's long-term carbon objectives.
LRG's focus on both environmental stewardship and operational efficiency suggests a commitment to integrating sustainable building and refurbishment practices across its property estate – all while expanding its office network.
