Actress Lucy Davis, known for her role as Dawn Tinsley in the UK version of The Office, has announced she has incurable breast cancer. The 53-year-old shared on Instagram that the cancer has spread to her bones, and it is too late for chemotherapy.
Ms Davis described her initial breast change as a "tiny" hard spot, rather than a typical lump. The NHS advises individuals to check their breasts or chest about once a month to become familiar with what is normal for them.
Key signs to look for include a lump or swelling in the breast, chest, or armpit, changes in skin such as dimpling or redness, or alterations in breast size or shape. Other indicators can be nipple discharge, changes in nipple shape or appearance, or sores on the chest. The NHS recommends seeing a GP for any persistent pain or unusual changes.
