LV= General Insurance has confirmed that repairs will commence on a family's home, which has been experiencing subsidence damage since a claim was lodged in 2023. The company has acknowledged that a full rebuild is now required for the property's extension and conservatory.

The family, based in London, reported significant cracking in interior walls, leading to a radiator shearing away. They stated that LV= had spent years proposing inadequate patching methods instead of authorising repairs recommended by independent experts.

LV= General Insurance stated that repairs will begin once the designs and council bureaucracy are complete. A spokesperson for the company said: “LV= General Insurance takes this claim extremely seriously and we understand and appreciate the frustration at the time it has taken to resolve it.” The company attributes the delay to an eucalyptus tree owned by a neighbour who refuses to remove it, stating that addressing the cause of movement is the most important step before permanent repairs.

The family's annual premium has increased from £400 to £2,500. LV= says it is reviewing this premium price rise under its complaints procedure.
