Veteran opener Adam Lyth ignited the spark that has set Yorkshire ablaze this Vitality Blast season, unleashing an unbeaten blast of 131 runs from just 63 deliveries – the highest individual score in the tournament so far. His incredible innings propelled the Tykes to a commanding 41-run victory over Leicestershire Foxes at Headingley, catapulting them into strong contention for a quarter-final berth. Lyth's electric century, his second T20 ton of his career, provided the perfect foundation as he shared a sizzling 91-run opening stand with Jonny Bairstow, anchoring Yorkshire's total of 207-4.
Rehan Ahmed's valiant efforts for the Foxes were eventually unable to stem the tide, but Lyth remained unyielding, reaching his hundred in 55 balls and tearing into Josh Hull's final over for a whiplash-inducing 24 runs. In response, Leicestershire's chase got off to a blistering start with Rishi Patel's whirlwind 34 from just 14 balls, but it was all too brief as four wickets tumbled for nine runs in a dramatic collapse, with AJ Tye (4-15) and Hassan Ali (4-25) proving the Foxes' undoing. In the end, Leicestershire fell agonisingly short, finishing on 166-9.
Over in the Central & West Group, defending champions Somerset landed a crushing blow to Northamptonshire Steelbacks with a comprehensive 105-run defeat at home. Somerset's dynamic duo of openers Thomas Rew (57 from 30) and Will Smeed tore apart the Steelbacks' bowlers, building an electric 104-run partnership that laid the foundation for their massive total of 223-4. Daniel Sams later added the icing to the cake with a match-sealing unbeaten 48 from just 16 balls. The Steelbacks, who had been riding high after starting at 65-1, found themselves crumpled under Somerset's devastating spin attack – Lewis Goldsworthy (3-32) and Josh Thomas (4-6) combining to dismantle their batting lineup and bowl them out for 118.
It was another day of drama in the North Group as Notts Outlaws continued their remarkable winning streak, securing a heart-stopping two-run victory over Durham for their sixth consecutive win. The leaders maintained their grip on top spot in the table thanks to a strong spin performance from Liam Patterson-White (2-7) and George Linde (2-19), who turned the tables after Durham's openers had given them a flying start. In a nail-biting finish, Durham needed 12 from the final over but could only muster nine. Elsewhere in the South Group, Hampshire Hawks held off Kent Spitfires by 19 runs to retain their lead thanks to England paceman Sonny Baker's devastating four wickets. Middlesex also snapped out of their five-match losing streak with a strong all-round performance, defeating Essex by four wickets.
Worcestershire Rapids propelled themselves into contention for the last eight after leapfrogging Glamorgan in the table following a 15-run win over their Welsh counterparts. Gareth Roderick's scintillating 71 from just 43 deliveries anchored the Rapids' total of 161-9, and their spin trio – including Usama Mir (2-17) and Fateh Singh (3-17) – successfully defended the score to bowl out Glamorgan for 146. Warwickshire Bears meanwhile made light work of Gloucestershire, with Beau Webster's impressive 78 from just 44 deliveries setting up a comprehensive 30-run victory at Edgbaston.
