Major fire closes Nottingham city centre roads and stops tram services

A major fire has broken out at a residential property in Nottingham city centre, leading to the closure of several roads and the suspension of tram services.

At 22:55 BST on Monday night, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service reported that 12 fire engines were at the scene on Market Street. Roads closed include Upper Parliament Street, Lower Parliament Street, Market Street, King Street, and Queen Street.

Nottingham Express Transit (NET) trams have ceased operations in both directions between the Theatre Royal and Market Square. The fire service has advised the public to avoid the area and urged local residents affected by smoke to keep doors and windows closed.
