Islam Makhachev is set to defend his welterweight title for the first time against Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330 in Philadelphia this Saturday. Both fighters weighed in at 170lb (12st 2lb) for the contest.
Makhachev, a former lightweight world champion, is looking to break Anderson Silva's record for the longest win streak in UFC history, currently standing at 16. The 34-year-old Russian described Machado Garry as his "next target" at the weigh-ins.
Machado Garry, 28, has an overall record of 17 wins and one defeat, with his sole UFC loss coming against Shavkat Rakhmonov. He has won 10 of his 11 fights since his UFC debut in 2021.
UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski, and retired welterweight Jorge Masvidal are among those predicting a Makhachev victory. However, UFC bantamweight Sean O'Malley and welterweight Carlos Prates are backing Machado Garry to win.
In the co-main event, Mackenzie Dern will defend her strawweight belt against Gillian Robertson.
