A chilling portrait of predation has emerged at the Old Bailey as a 40-year-old man stands accused of brutally murdering two women and leaving another for dead in a series of alleged sexual attacks that spanned an eight-month period in London. Simon Levy's pleas of not guilty to the murders of Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, 53, on 17th March 2025, and Sheryl Wilkins, 39, on 24th August 2025, are set against a backdrop of alleged predatory sexual attacks on three vulnerable women.
Prosecutor Tom Little KC told the jury that Levy allegedly carried out a "series of predatory sexual attacks" on women who were either sex workers or sometimes engaged in sexual acts for payment or drugs. The court heard that these women's vulnerability was not lost on Levy, who is alleged to have targeted them with the expectation he could evade justice.
The prosecution highlighted similarities between the alleged incidents, including DNA evidence linking Levy to Ms Valencia-Trujillo's killing and CCTV footage showing him walking with Ms Wilkins before her body was discovered. The first attack, where the victim survived, and the third, seven months later, reportedly took place in the same car park in Tottenham.
The jury was told that Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo lived in south-east London when she was found dead in a stairwell at Wendover House, a largely condemned block of flats in Walworth. The first victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had been trafficked into the UK and was working as a sex worker in Tottenham and Edmonton areas.
Although the first victim initially did not report the attack, she later provided a full statement six months afterwards, while withdrawing from heroin use. She reportedly knew Levy and correctly identified his residence before picking him out of a police lineup. The prosecution described the case as involving "a series of attacks committed by the same predatory serial sexual attacker in a similar way" against vulnerable women.
Levy, who is blind in one eye, may wear sunglasses during proceedings and will require an intermediary, Judge Lucraft KC informed the jury. Family and friends of some of the victims were present for the opening of the case.
