A 19-year-old man has been arrested following a fatal crash in Birmingham that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old boy. West Midlands Police said the teenager was a passenger in a white Seat Ibiza which was understood to have hit railings on Shaftmoor Lane at approximately 20:30 BST on Saturday.
The 16-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene, located in the Acocks Green and Hall Green areas, despite efforts by paramedics. A second teenage passenger sustained a serious arm injury and was taken to hospital.
The arrested man is being held on suspicion of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving, and failing to provide a breath specimen. Specialist officers from the serious collision investigation unit have appealed for information and dashcam footage from around the time of the crash.
