A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault at the funeral of Cole Worthy, one of the five young men who died in a collision on the A66. Cleveland Police confirmed that a 39-year-old man was taken into custody following the disruption at Teesside Crematorium at around 12:30 BST.
Cole Worthy, 17, died when a Volkswagen Passat collided with a marked armed police car in the early hours of 22 August in South Bank, near Middlesbrough. Two police officers, PC Matthew Blades, 37, and PC Tom Clough, also died in the head-on collision.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct stated that the officers were searching for the Passat after its cloned registration plates were detected, but they were not involved in a pursuit. The other young men killed in the Passat were Michael Robert Cahill, 23, Jakub Matusiak, 23, Makai Saddington, 18, and Theo Rae, 17.
