A 57-year-old man has been arrested following the death of William Watson, 35, in a suspected shooting at a house in Armadale, West Lothian. Mr Watson, known as Billy, died at the scene on Harestanes Road at approximately 11:50 on Saturday.

Police Scotland has described the death as a "targeted attack" and stated that inquiries are continuing. A post-mortem examination is scheduled, and the death is currently being treated as suspicious.

Officers are also investigating potential links between the incident and a car fire in Netherhouses, as well as a fire at a derelict house on Wotherspoon Crescent, both occurring on Saturday. Det Supt Michelle Findlay, from Police Scotland's Major Investigations Team, said her thoughts are with Mr Watson's family and friends, who are being supported by specialist officers.

Supt Jocelyn Thomas reassured the local community that such incidents are rare and an increased police presence will remain in the area. Police Scotland has urged anyone with information to contact officers, and a dedicated online portal has been established.
