Police have charged a 29-year-old man with racially-aggravated assault after a traffic cone was thrown at a delivery driver in Glasgow city centre last month. The incident, which was filmed and shared on social media, occurred following an anti-immigration protest at Glasgow Green on 25 July.
The arrested man was taken into custody in the Pollokshields area of the city. The victim, Muhammad Jawad Yaqoob, 31, had just collected an order from the Palm Tree Kitchen on Bridge Street when he encountered protesters.
Police Scotland confirmed that a major investigation team is working to identify additional suspects, with further arrests anticipated. Fifteen people were arrested on the day of the protests, which coincided with the opening weekend of the Commonwealth Games.
