A man has appeared in court accused of murdering two members of a family on the same property in Gurranang, New South Wales. Police found the body of a 59-year-old man in a shed on Monday afternoon, approximately 25km north of Grafton.
This discovery was made two weeks after the body of a 79-year-old man was found inside a home on the same property. Detective Superintendent Joe Doueihi stated on Wednesday that the alleged murder victims were related, with the younger man reportedly arriving in New South Wales to assist police and manage the 79-year-old's estate.
Police allege that 32-year-old Nicholas Scott, a neighbour, was responsible for both deaths. Scott was arrested at a hospital in Grafton on Tuesday and subsequently charged with two counts of murder and stealing a motor vehicle. He appeared in court on Wednesday morning and did not apply for bail, remaining in custody until his next court appearance in December.
