Manchester City has completed a significant squad overhaul, spending a Premier League record £458m in the summer transfer window. This sum marks the highest expenditure by a club in a single summer window in the league's history.
The club's midfield has seen a complete transformation, with new manager Enzo Maresca bringing in Enzo Fernandez for a joint-British record £125m, Elliot Anderson for £116m, and Ayyoub Bouaddi for £86m. These additions follow the departures of key players including captain Bernardo Silva and 2024 Ballon d'Or winner Rodri.
Despite the substantial investment, questions have emerged regarding the team's depth at striker. Erling Haaland is currently the only first-team striker, leading to concerns about cover should he become unavailable. The club believes it has enough flexibility within its existing options, with Antoine Semenyo and deadline day signing Ndiaye seen as potential number nine options.
