A man in Brooklyn, New York, has died after his bag was reportedly caught between the doors of a subway train, according to police. The incident occurred on Monday when the man was leaving a Manhattan-bound A train at the Utica Avenue station in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant neighbourhood.
New York police identified the man as Yaw Boahene, 57, from Brooklyn. Officers responded to a 911 call about the accident at approximately 6:05pm ET on Monday. Police stated that upon arrival, officers found a 57-year-old male unconscious and unresponsive on the roadbed of the northbound 'A' train. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Investigators, cited by ABC7, reported that the man was dragged backward, pulled between train cars, and onto the tracks. The New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death, and an investigation is ongoing, police said.
