A remarkable achievement has come to an end, as James Lewis completed his Africa to Rugeley Football Run challenge, dribbling a ball from Marrakesh, Morocco, to Staffordshire. The challenge, which began in May, has raised an impressive £64,000 for St Giles Hospice, a charity that cared for Lewis' father during his final days.

Throughout his journey, Lewis faced various challenges, including punctured footballs and having to sleep on the side of roads for two nights in a row. Despite these obstacles, he persevered and made it to The Chase pub in Rugeley, Staffordshire, on Saturday at around 18:00 BST.

Speaking about his experience, Lewis described it as an 'emotional rollercoaster', highlighting the emotional toll of the challenge. However, he also expressed his gratitude towards the charity and the support he received from friends and family.

The challenge has not only raised a significant amount of money for St Giles Hospice but has also raised awareness about the importance of hospice care. A spokesperson for the charity stated that Lewis' challenge meant 'an awful lot' to them, and that they understand he is their biggest individual fundraiser.

As for Lewis, he is looking forward to a well-deserved rest and a haircut, which he has not had in almost 15 weeks. His previous challenges have included running blindfolded for 24 hours and running from Paris to Rugeley.

The success of the challenge highlights the determination and resilience of individuals who embark on extraordinary feats to make a difference in their communities.
