A man was reportedly found covered in blood hours after he allegedly killed his partner, a court has heard. Alexander Brennan, 54, denies murdering Brodie MacGregor, 23, in her flat in Glasgow's Springburn on 26 August 2024.
The High Court in Glasgow heard that on the day of the suspected murder, Mr Brennan was wearing a bloodstained jumper and had injuries to his hands and face. Witness Tina Marie Hatton told the court she found Mr Brennan at her property in Camelon, Falkirk, wearing a hooded jumper with blood on it, and she cleaned him up. She stated he had injuries to his hands and above his eyebrow.
Police Scotland Det Insp Ashley Gemmell told the court she seized the bloodstained jumper during inquiries to locate Mr Brennan on 28 August. She arrested him in Stirling, noting he had "scratches" to his face and forehead.
Forensic scientist Joanne Carter analysed blood found at the property and on recovered clothing. Ms MacGregor's blood was reportedly found on the front door handle, the frame of the toilet door, the rim of the bath, and a hot sink tap. Further blood was discovered on a microwave plate, a radiator, two chairs, a living room wall and ceiling, and broken glass bottles on the floor.
Another forensic scientist, Louise Sonstebo, told jurors that 60 fragments of glass were found from a bloodstained vest top recovered from Ms MacGregor. A total of 11 fragments of glass were found on the jumper recovered from Ms Hatton's home, with some also found on jeans recovered from a clothing bin near Ms MacGregor's home. The trial, before Lord Scott, continues.
