Jim Mair, 43, who was found dead on Monday near Corsliehill Road in Houston alongside his wife Stacy Mair, 35, had appeared in court earlier this month charged with assaulting her. Police are investigating Stacy Mair's death as murder, while Jim Mair's death is being treated as unexplained.
The Crown Office confirmed that Mr Mair appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on 6 July charged with assault. He was bailed after the case was continued for further examination, with bail reportedly granted on condition he did not approach his wife. His death means these court proceedings have now ended.
Police Scotland stated that pending the results of a post-mortem examination, there is nothing to suggest anyone else was involved in Jim Mair's death. Det Ch Insp Laura Young said that specialist officers are providing support to the families affected by the incident.
