A man has been found guilty of murder after his victim died 15 years following an assault in Lewisham, south-east London. Jordan Burton, now 33, was found guilty of murder on Tuesday after a trial at the Old Bailey.
The court heard that Daniel Allright, who was 16 at the time of the September 2006 attack, suffered a serious head injury. He experienced his first seizure six months later and was prescribed medication, with his epilepsy worsening before his death.
Mr Allright died aged 31 in March 2022 at his home, having suffered a fatal epileptic seizure. A post-mortem examination determined post-traumatic epilepsy as the cause of death.
Burton had initially denied involvement in the attack but pleaded guilty to violent disorder and unlawful wounding in 2008. During his murder trial, he denied wrongdoing, telling jurors he had been pressured into admitting the assault.
