Adrian Webb, from Wombourne, was diagnosed with advanced skin cancer in 2012, which had spread to his lungs, liver, spleen, bowel, lymph nodes and spine. Doctors reportedly told him he had months to live and that there was little hope of a full recovery.
Mr Webb took part in clinical trials involving new immunotherapy drugs. Tests eventually showed he was in remission.
Fourteen years after his diagnosis, the 61-year-old is celebrating becoming a grandfather. He has taken early retirement to help look after his six-month-old grandson, Teddy.
His son, Josh, recreated a video from 2015 to mark the milestone. The new video shows Mr Webb holding baby Teddy, with a sign reading: "I'm still standing - and I'm a Grandad!"
Mr Webb is scheduled to start Birmingham's 10k Shine Night Walk on 4 September, an event raising funds for Cancer Research UK.
