A 23-year-old man has been jailed for five years and seven months after being convicted of raping a sleeping teenage girl at a Halloween party in Ramsgate, Kent.
Angelos Ntolakai, of Manston Road, Ramsgate, was sentenced on Thursday, 17 September, at Canterbury Crown Court. He has also been placed on the sex offenders register for life.
Kent Police officers were called to the party after the victim informed a friend about the incident. Detectives stated that the girl had become unwell and fallen asleep in a friend's bed when Ntolakai held her down and raped her.
Ntolakai, who is of Greek nationality, denied the charge but was unanimously convicted of rape following a four-day trial. Police identified him through DNA evidence obtained from forensic samples taken from men who attended the 2022 party.
Investigating officer, Det Con Chris Harvey, said the sentence was based heavily on the strength of DNA and forensic information, as well as the crucial input of witnesses. He expressed hope that the sentence would provide the victim and her family with some sense of justice and closure.
