A man has been questioned in connection with the unexplained death of Hannah Fry, a 29-year-old mother-of-two from Longridge, Lancashire. Ms Fry tragically died on 13 July 2026, after becoming unwell at an address in Meadow Croft following a police attendance. Her death is currently being treated as unexplained by Lancashire Police, who are continuing their investigation into the circumstances.
Reports indicate that a 31-year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion of coercive and controlling behaviour. He was subsequently further arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in connection with Ms Fry's death. The individual has since been released on bail as police inquiries continue to unfold.
In addition to this, a 23-year-old man was also arrested in relation to an offence reported on the day of Ms Fry's death, which prompted the initial police presence at the Longridge address. The nature of this offence has not been publicly disclosed at this stage of the investigation.
The incident has also led to a mandatory referral being made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), as is standard procedure when a person dies or is seriously injured following police contact. A spokesperson for Lancashire Police stated that it would be inappropriate to comment further on this aspect while the IOPC's involvement is ongoing.
Ms Fry's parents, Kevin and Sarah Harcup, have paid a heartfelt tribute to their daughter, describing her as 'beautiful and only daughter, the light of our lives and the love in our hearts and souls'. They highlighted her devotion as a mother to her two daughters and remembered her as 'funny, bubbly, witty, and full of life, with a fantastic personality'. Her family emphasised that she will be 'forever missed' by all who knew her, noting that her middle name, Eidann, means 'Gift from God'.
