Manchester United are reportedly in talks with Serie A club Fiorentina concerning a potential transfer for forward Joshua Zirkzee. The 25-year-old, who arrived at Old Trafford from Bologna in 2024 for €42.5 million (£36.5m), has found opportunities limited under head coach Michael Carrick.
Zirkzee made 26 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring just twice, with only five of those matches being starts. Negotiations are ongoing, with a season-long loan to Fiorentina, including an option for a permanent transfer, appearing to be the most likely outcome. Reports from Italy suggest a loan fee of approximately €5 million (£4.3m).
Despite the ongoing discussions, United boss Michael Carrick stated last week that Zirkzee, nor any other squad members, had asked to leave the club. Zirkzee remained on the bench during United's 2-0 defeat to newly promoted Hull in their Premier League opener on Saturday.
