Manchester United goalkeeper Tom Heaton has expressed his confidence in Senne Lammens to bounce back from the World Cup nightmare that befell him with Belgium.
Lammens, who has established himself as United's number one goalkeeper, was at fault for Spain's 88th-minute winner in the quarter-finals, spilling Pau Cubarsi's 25-yard strike into the path of Mikel Merino.
Despite the setback, Heaton believes Lammens will emerge stronger from the experience, praising his personality and ability to handle pressure.
'It's obviously a challenging moment for him, but I think that's the life of a goalkeeper,' Heaton said. 'As soon as you put the gloves on and go between the sticks, you have to be ready to deal with that. He certainly is. I actually think he'll be stronger for it.'
Heaton, who has signed a new one-year contract with United, is set to remain as the team's third-choice goalkeeper behind David de Gea and Karl Darlow. Despite this, he remains confident in Lammens' ability to handle the pressure of being a top-flight goalkeeper.
