A 25-year-old man from Herefordshire, Charlie Tobey, who has undergone three liver transplants, is preparing to run the 2027 London Marathon. Mr Tobey, now living and working in London, is campaigning for greater awareness of organ donation.

Mr Tobey had his first transplant at two weeks old after developing acute liver failure. He required two further operations as a teenager following complications, including one donation from his father that was unsuccessful due to septic shock.

He is one of five runners aiming to raise £15,000 for Split - Children's Liver Fund, a charity he helped establish after his third transplant in 2015. Mr Tobey stated that he wants to raise awareness for the charity and encourage people to join the organ donation list, noting that donation levels are down.
