Manchester Super Giants clinched their inaugural Hundred title today, overcoming Trent Rockets by five wickets in a tense final at Lord's. The Super Giants, previously known as the Originals, had lost two prior men's finals.
The chase for 159 runs was anchored by New Zealand's Tim Seifert, who delivered a powerful 72 runs from 38 balls, including seven sixes and four fours. Seifert's performance saw him equal the highest score in a Hundred final and conclude the tournament as the second-highest run-scorer with 394 runs.
Despite needing only three runs from the final nine balls, the Super Giants experienced a late scare as Mohammad Amir dismissed Heinrich Klaasen and Michael Bracewell. Ben Sanderson then bowled two dot balls, leaving them needing three runs from three balls. However, Liam Dawson held his nerve, hitting a six over mid-wicket to seal the victory with two balls remaining.
Trent Rockets, who had topped the table to progress directly to the final, posted 158-8. Aneurin Donald contributed 38 off 19 balls, supported by Mitch Santner's 20 and Lewis Gregory's 32. The Rockets were aiming to become the first franchise to win both the men's and women's Hundred competitions in the same year, but ultimately fell short.
