Manchester United Fans to Revive Banner Mocking City's Trophy Drought

Manchester United fans plan to bring back a banner mocking Manchester City's trophy drought, following City's guilty verdict for over 100 breaches of Premier League rules.

  • Manchester United fans' group The Red Army (TRA) has purchased a new banner.
  • The banner is expected to be unveiled before Manchester United's home match against Tottenham on Saturday.
  • Manchester City has appealed the verdict and maintains its innocence.

Manchester United fans are set to revive a banner that previously mocked Manchester City's trophy drought. This comes after Manchester City was found guilty of more than 100 breaches of Premier League rules.

The original ticker-style banner was a regular sight at Old Trafford from 2000 until 2011, when Manchester City secured the FA Cup, their first trophy since 1976. The Red Army (TRA) fan group has acquired a new banner, which is anticipated to be displayed before Manchester United's home game against Tottenham on Saturday.

The Premier League's independent commission found Manchester City had repeatedly broken financial rules between 2009 and 2018. Manchester City has appealed the verdict, asserting they possess "irrefutable evidence" of their innocence.
