Three new theme parks are set to be built near Paris, following a €6bn (£5.13bn) deal between France and Saudi Arabia. The development is expected to include a manga-themed park, inspired by the popular Japanese franchise Dragon Ball Z.
French President Emmanuel Macron described the project as being on a scale not seen "since Disneyland Paris". The agreement was finalised during a two-day state visit to France by Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The project, which will be led by Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC), part of Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, is expected to create around 2,000 jobs. An opening date for the parks, which will open in stages, has not been set, and construction is anticipated to take years.
The deal is also seen as a signal of strengthening ties between France and Saudi Arabia. The leaders are expected to sign further agreements on health, transport, and energy during the visit.
