Chinese AI startup Manus is reportedly in discussions to raise $500 million, seeking a valuation of $4 billion. This development follows the company's resumption of independent operations after its planned merger with Meta was terminated earlier this year.
The Wall Street Journal, citing anonymous sources, reported that potential investors for the funding round include IDG Capital, Boyu Capital, and battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology. Existing backers such as Tencent, HSG, and Zhenfund are also said to be considering investment.
Manus is also reportedly considering a restructuring exercise in preparation for a potential IPO in Hong Kong. Beijing blocked the earlier acquisition deal with Meta, citing concerns over export controls and foreign investment rules, leading to Manus untangling itself from the American social media giant.
