Salford Rugby League Club has confirmed the re-signing of experienced half-back Marc Sneyd from Warrington Wolves, with the new agreement set to begin for the 2027 season. The move will see the 35-year-old embark on his third spell at the club where he initiated his senior professional career back in 2010. Sneyd's return is being hailed as a significant step for Salford as they aim to rebuild and strengthen their squad.
Sneyd initially departed Salford in March 2025, joining the Wire on an 18-month deal. His departure coincided with a challenging period for the now-rebranded club, which was then known as the Red Devils. This era was marked by considerable financial difficulties, ultimately leading to their relegation from Super League and a subsequent takeover and rebranding process towards the end of last year.
Speaking about his decision to return, Sneyd highlighted the timing and the club's renewed ambition. "Timing was a big one for me. I spoke to Ryan [Brierley - CEO] and the coaches and their ambition really stood out," Sneyd stated. He added, "The club is at a brand new stage, but I want to help the club get back to the level the club wants to be at. Hopefully next year we can build on what the club has already built this season."
Salford CEO Ryan Brierley expressed his delight at bringing Sneyd back, acknowledging the circumstances of his previous departure. "I was here when the club went through administration, and I know first hand how difficult it was for Sneydy to leave," Brierley commented. He further remarked, "To now have the opportunity to bring him home, and give him the chance to finish this chapter in a Salford shirt, feels incredibly special."
Having progressed through Salford's academy system, Sneyd has accumulated a total of 136 appearances for the club during his previous two stints. His experience and leadership are expected to be vital assets as Salford continues its journey of recovery and aims to climb back up the ranks of professional rugby league.
