Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has labelled the transfer market "crazy" after the club's significant spending this summer. City committed over £400m to new signings during Maresca's first transfer window in charge, with £301m allocated to new midfielders.
The club equalled the British record by spending £125m on Enzo Fernandez and also paid £116m for Elliot Anderson. Despite these record-breaking figures, Maresca stated he does not focus on the prices paid, saying, "I don't pay much attention to the price because I don't pay the money. It's more about good players."
Maresca praised City's ability to replace key players, citing the arrivals of Fernandez, Anderson, and Ayyoub Bouaddi as successful replacements for Rodri and Bernardo Silva. He also highlighted past examples of the club effectively replacing departing stars such as Sergio Aguero, Fernandinho, and David Silva.
