  • Matt Lucas has denied rumours of a Little Britain reboot.
  • The comedian stated on X that he does not know where the story originated and there are no plans for a reboot.
  • Little Britain was previously removed from BBC iPlayer in 2020 due to culturally insensitive sketches, but was re-added in 2022 with edits.

Matt Lucas has publicly debunked recent rumours circulating about a potential reboot of the sketch show Little Britain. The comedian, who co-fronted the BBC Three series with David Walliams between 2003 and 2006, addressed the speculation on social media.

Reports from the Daily Mail last week suggested the show could be set for a comeback, possibly with a streaming service rather than the BBC. However, Lucas shared a post on X on 25 September 2026, stating: “I don’t know where this story has come from but there are no plans to reboot this show.”

Little Britain has faced controversy in the past, leading to its removal from BBC iPlayer in 2020 due to sketches deemed culturally insensitive. Lucas and Walliams have both expressed regret over playing characters of other races. The series was later re-added to iPlayer in 2022 following edits to reflect changes in cultural perspectives.
