British cyclist Matt Richardson has pledged to cooperate with a British Cycling investigation into allegations of serious misconduct. This commitment comes after his recent withdrawal from the World Track Cycling Championships in Shanghai.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Richardson acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations. The Times reported these allegations are linked to his behaviour towards other riders. Richardson stated he would act with contrition towards anyone he may have offended.
The 27-year-old, who switched allegiance to Britain after the Paris 2024 Olympics, expressed his disappointment at missing the World Championships. UK Sport has backed British Cycling's serious approach to the matter, while also emphasising the importance of a fair hearing for Richardson.
