British rider Matthew Brennan secured his third stage victory in the Vuelta a España on Wednesday, triumphing on the 11th stage, a 153.8km route from Cartagena to Lorca. This achievement makes him the first cyclist to win three stages in a debut Grand Tour since Tadej Pogacar seven years ago.
The 21-year-old, riding for team Visma-Lease a Bike, also won the second and fifth stages of the race. He is the youngest cyclist to achieve multiple stage wins in the Vuelta since Pogacar's three victories in 2019.
Enric Mas of Movistar Team currently holds the overall lead, maintaining it since taking over from Pogacar, who withdrew due to injury. Mas is 1 minute 18 seconds ahead of Primoz Roglic.
Meanwhile, in the Tour of Britain, Lewis Askey of NSN won the opening stage in Lincoln.
