Conor McGregor has proposed a new theory regarding the injury he sustained at UFC 329, suggesting that a wet Octagon mat could have caused him to slip. The fighter also repeated his claim that his recent loss to Max Holloway should be overturned.

McGregor, 38, fought for the first time in five years on 11 July, but his return ended quickly as he tore his ACL and meniscus in just over one minute. He fell in the opening seconds while attempting a running, jumping kick, and fell several more times before the bout was stopped.

Writing on Instagram, McGregor shared footage of his walkout and stated, "Sorry I’m late but the dry ice has the cage floor wet it’s a no contest." He added, "Now chop chop for the champ champ I’ll see ya’s next year 100%."

McGregor had previously called for the result to be changed from a first-round TKO loss to a no-contest. His latest injury marks his second consecutive first-round injury, following a broken leg sustained in 2021.
