Rory McIlroy's pursuit of an eighth Harry Vardon Trophy, which would equal Colin Montgomerie's record, faced a setback during the third round of the DP World India Championship. McIlroy's challenge for the Race to Dubai suffered after he recorded four bogeys and a double bogey over an eight-hole stretch.
Eugenio Chacarra, a rival to Patrick Reed in the season-long rankings, currently leads the tournament. Chacarra is 14 under par and 10 shots clear of McIlroy, with seven holes of his third round still to complete when play was suspended due to bad light.
McIlroy, who birdied the 14th from a greenside bunker for an eagle, was in a share of 40th place with three holes remaining in his third round. Chacarra leads by two strokes from Angel Hidalgo and Joost Luiten.
