MediaCo, a UK-based media group, has announced a partnership with WAPA Media to syndicate a popular radio show from Puerto Rico, marking the company's latest move to diversify its content offering. The agreement will bring the programme, which covers news, culture, and entertainment from the Caribbean island, to MediaCo's digital platforms across the United Kingdom.
The deal comes as British broadcasters increasingly look to source international programming to attract a more multicultural audience. MediaCo's chief executive said the partnership 'reflects our commitment to bringing fresh voices and perspectives to UK listeners.' WAPA Media, one of Puerto Rico's leading media companies, described the move as 'an exciting opportunity to share Puerto Rican stories with a global audience.'
Industry analysts note that syndication agreements of this kind have grown in popularity as streaming and podcast consumption surges. UK audiences, particularly those aged 25 to 55, are showing greater appetite for content that explores Latin American affairs, according to recent audience surveys.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. MediaCo said the show will be available on its app and website from later this year, with plans to expand distribution to other platforms if initial uptake is strong. No specific start date has been confirmed.
