Melanie Walters, the actress best known for playing Gwen West in the BBC comedy Gavin and Stacey, has become the second celebrity to be eliminated from this season of Strictly Come Dancing. Walters, 64, was partnered with professional dancer Aljaz Skorjanec, 36.
On Saturday night's episode, Walters and Skorjanec performed a Charleston, receiving a score of 17 from the judges. Judge Craig Revel Horwood stated he "didn't love" their dance.
The couple faced former footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips and his partner Alexis Warr in the dance-off during Sunday night's results episode. After both couples performed their routines again, judges Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, and Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Wright-Phillips and Warr, while Motsi Mabuse wanted to save Walters.
Walters, who is from Swansea, bid farewell to her fellow cast members, saying "diolch yn fawr iawn" (thank you very much in Welsh). The eliminated couple is scheduled to appear on It Takes Two on Monday.
