Memphis Depay, the former Manchester United forward, has agreed to a pay cut to stay at Corinthians, signing a new contract with the Sao Paulo club until 2028. This agreement follows a period of tension after the club initially withdrew a previously agreed two-year extension.
Corinthians president Osmar Stabile confirmed that Depay significantly reduced his financial demands. The club had previously decided against extending his contract due to financial concerns.
According to ESPN Brasil, Depay has agreed to waive about £2.9m from a reported £10.6m owed to him. The new two-year deal is reportedly worth a total of £19.1m, with the remaining debt of £7.6m set to be paid in four instalments starting January 2027.
