Met Police investigate alleged unauthorised access of political party database

London's Metropolitan Police are conducting a criminal investigation into alleged unauthorised access of a political party's database, reportedly linked to the founding of Your Party.

  • A man has been arrested and released pending further inquiries under the 1990 Computer Misuse Act.
  • A woman in her 30s was previously interviewed under caution in connection with the same investigation.
  • The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) previously advised that the matter, while not pursued by them, may have involved “serious criminal activity” and should be referred to police.

London's Metropolitan Police have launched a criminal investigation into a report received in September 2025 concerning the alleged unauthorised access of a political party’s database, according to a police spokesperson cited by Politico. Sources told the Guardian that the investigation is linked to a dispute surrounding the establishment of Your Party.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of an offence under the 1990 Computer Misuse Act and subsequently released pending further inquiries. He has not been charged. Officers also previously interviewed a woman in her 30s under caution in connection with the same investigation. Neither the arrested man nor the interviewed woman are MPs, and neither has been charged with an offence.

The police spokesperson did not name any political party in their statement or confirm which party their investigation was related to. Politico reported that neither Jeremy Corbyn nor Zarah Sultana, who founded Your Party in summer 2025, were accused of wrongdoing.

In January, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) advised Your Party that while it was taking no further action regarding the party's membership portal launch, the issue may have involved “serious criminal activity” and should be referred to the police. A Your Party spokesperson stated it would not be appropriate to comment further on ongoing police investigations, adding that their systems are secure and this was an isolated incident.
