Meta's latest smart glasses, including a new audio-only model, were prominently featured at the company's annual Connect event. These unreleased audio-only glasses are equipped with six microphones but lack a camera, a design choice that reportedly aims to alleviate privacy concerns previously raised about camera-equipped smart glasses.
The new audio-only glasses are designed for entertainment and communication, allowing users to listen to music and take phone calls. They also integrate with Muse, Meta's personal agentic system, enabling users to give verbal commands for tasks such as sending emails or reciting to-do lists.
Meta also showcased a second audio-only pair specifically for the hearing impaired. These glasses, which have been in development for approximately five years, are planned to sell for $150. This price point is considerably lower than some hearing aids, which can cost up to $1,600. The device allows users to amplify voices, with options to focus on a person in front of them or pick up sound from all directions.
