Meta's Muse AI app reaches No. 2 on US iOS charts, trails other Meta launches

Meta's new AI app, Muse, has climbed to the No. 2 position on the U.S. App Store's Top Charts, with over 83,000 iOS downloads in the U.S. However, its launch numbers are lower compared to other recent Meta app debuts like Threads and Meta AI.

  • Meta's Muse AI app has achieved the No. 2 spot on the U.S. App Store's Top Charts.
  • Muse has been downloaded over 83,000 times on iOS in the United States.
  • The app's launch performance is slower than Meta's Threads and Meta AI apps, and ChatGPT's debut.

Meta's new AI app, Muse, has reached the No. 2 position on the App Store's Top Charts in the United States, according to data from Sensor Tower. The app, currently limited to the U.S., has seen more than 83,000 iOS downloads since its launch on Tuesday.

Despite its climb on the iOS charts, Muse's initial performance trails other recent Meta app launches. Threads, for example, recorded over 4.3 million U.S. downloads on its launch day, while the Meta AI app saw 108,000 U.S. downloads during its debut. Muse also took twice as long to achieve the average daily download numbers seen by ChatGPT in its first week.

The Android version of Muse is performing less strongly, ranking No. 338 in the Productivity category on Google Play. Muse is also accessible via the web and WhatsApp, but these figures are not included in the current estimates.

The timing of Muse's launch, which requires users to provide more personal information, occurred days after Meta agreed to an $18 billion multistate settlement in a lawsuit concerning social media's consumer harms.

Why this matters: Muse represents one of Meta's significant investments in agentic AI, which the company believes will be the future of consumer AI.
