The UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening regulatory collaboration with Malaysia. This follows high-level discussions in Kuala Lumpur with Malaysia’s Minister of Health, YB Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, and senior leaders from the country’s healthcare, regulatory, and research organisations.
During the meeting, MHRA representatives, including Chief Executive Lawrence Tallon, learned about Malaysia’s progress in healthcare and medicines regulation. Discussions focused on opportunities to deepen cooperation in medicines, medical devices, and clinical trials.
Potential areas of collaboration include greater expert exchange, sharing regulatory knowledge and best practice, and advancing work on emerging technologies. Both sides also explored more efficient development and approval pathways while aiming to maintain high standards of safety, quality, and effectiveness. Practical next steps were agreed upon, including further engagement between experts and opportunities for teams to work together.
