Rising star Micheal Ward's reputation hangs precariously in the balance as he takes to the witness stand to deny allegations of rape. The British actor, known for his roles in Netflix's 'Top Boy' and the film 'Blue Story', claims that a night out with a woman ended in consensual intimacy – but she alleges it was nothing more than a ruse.
According to Ward's testimony, he and the woman shared "quite flirty" conversation and "passionate" kisses in the back of his car on 2 January 2023. He insisted that everything they did was "wholly consensual" and that she was an "active participant", even going so far as to describe her body language as an "inviting act".
However, this account is at odds with the woman's own testimony. Last week, she broke down in court as she recounted her experience, stating that she had not understood what was happening and would never have gotten into the car with Ward if she knew. While she admitted to not explicitly saying "no", she claimed to have told him on multiple occasions that she needed to leave – a claim that Ward disputes.
The alleged incident took place during a New Year's party hosted by Ward in Gants Hill, east London. He testified that he found the woman "very cute" and had sensed her interest through eye contact and conversation. Yet, despite his claims of consensual interaction, it appears that the woman was visibly upset afterwards – her friend testified that she appeared "off" and kept crying when asked what had happened.
The woman's own actions also suggest a different story: upon returning home, she ordered an STI kit and ticked a box indicating that she had been sexually assaulted. This stark contrast to Ward's account has left many questioning the truth behind their encounter. As the trial continues, one thing is certain – the future of this rising star hangs precariously in the balance.
