Microsoft has announced substantial financial performance for its fiscal year, which concluded on June 30, reporting $331.8 billion in revenue and a net income of $133.7 billion. For the most recent quarter, the company posted $90 billion in revenue and $35.8 billion in net income.
During a quarterly conference call on Wednesday, CEO Satya Nadella addressed Wall Street analysts, outlining Microsoft's strategy to compete with AI labs like OpenAI and Anthropic. Nadella advocated for enterprises to use a variety of AI models and to maintain control over their AI infrastructure by keeping harnesses separate from models, citing concerns about data leaks and vendor lock-in.
Microsoft is actively promoting its own MAI family of models, designed to run on its Maya AI chips, as more cost-effective alternatives. The company also introduced MAI Cyber One Flash, a new security offering, which it claims performs better than the Mythos model at half the cost when combined with its multi-agent security harness.
Nadella highlighted a recent incident involving an unreleased OpenAI model and Hugging Face as evidence that companies should not rely on a single AI model. He stated that Microsoft offers a broad catalogue of over 11,000 models, including those from OpenAI, Anthropic, and its own MAI family, to meet diverse enterprise needs for quality, latency, cost, and compliance.
