Mid-2025 UK Population Estimates Released by ONS

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has today published its mid-2025 population estimates for the UK and its constituent countries.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has released its mid-2025 population estimates for the UK, England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland today, 1 October 2026. These official statistics provide national and subnational figures, detailing populations by administrative area, age, and sex.

The estimates reflect the population as of 30 June 2025 and are produced in line with the standard United Nations (UN) definition for population estimates. They are the official set of population estimates for the UK, its constituent countries, the regions and counties of England, and local authorities.

These statistics have been independently reviewed by the Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR). They comply with the standards of trustworthiness, quality, and value outlined in the Code of Practice for Statistics.
