Former Australia Test star Mike Hussey has reportedly been approached by Stephen Fleming, England's new Test coach, to join his staff as batting coach. This follows their extensive collaboration, including playing alongside and coaching together at Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League.
Fleming, who recently stepped down from his 18-season tenure as CSK coach, where he secured five titles and reached nine finals, accepted the England job weeks prior. Hussey has praised Fleming's coaching style, noting his balance of organisation, strategy, and maintaining the enjoyment of the game.
Hussey previously served as a consultant coach for England during their successful T20 World Cup campaign in Australia in 2022. He is currently coaching Joe Root as head coach of Welsh Fire men in The Hundred, and believes Root and Fleming will complement each other well.
