Filming for The Devil Wears Prada 2 required the closure of several major Milanese landmarks, including the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Accademia di Brera and large parts of the Quadrilatero della Moda, according to Italian line producer Enrico Ballarin.
The Accademia di Brera shoot took three nights and ran into the small hours, with a cast and crew of 600. Ballarin said it was his first choice because of its prestigious status as a centre for creativity and because it could be closed off from the public.
The Palazzo Parigi hotel on Corso di Porta Nuova was used for several scenes. Ballarin said the wide street outside, vast lobby and grand staircase made it a dream to film in, and many hotel staff appeared as extras. The hotel remained fully functioning throughout filming.
Other locations included Il Salumaio di Montenapoleone, where Donatella Versace appears in the film, and a villa just outside the city and Lake Como for waterside scenes.
