A car belonging to Yvonne Whear, a 73-year-old woman missing for approximately seven months, has been discovered in northern New South Wales. Police divers located the vehicle in the Rous River in Dulguigan on Saturday, 12 September, following a tip-off.

Police confirmed that the vehicle has undergone forensic investigation, with its mechanics also under examination. Several personal items, believed to belong to Ms Whear, were recovered from the waterlogged car. However, Ms Whear was not found with the vehicle and remains a missing person.

Ms Whear was last seen on 19 February on CCTV footage. Her daughter, Gillian Hallac, stated that her mother did not suffer from depression or mental health issues, and there was nothing to suggest anything was wrong. Detective Acting Inspector Chris Elliott, Tweed-Byron district’s crime manager, said there was no evidence to suggest Ms Whear would voluntarily disappear.
